What are categories and how do I tag my classes?

💡 Categories help you reach more parents by making sure your classes appear in the right places on Happity — including our high-traffic Category pages.

What are Category pages?

Category pages bring together classes around popular themes – such as sensory, fitness, or playgroups – so parents can browse based on the type of activity they’re looking for, or what they’ve enjoyed before.

Each Category page shows:

  • 1 Featured Listing at the top

  • 9 additional providers below, ordered by distance from the postcode a parent is searching

  • Direct More Info / Book Now buttons that take parents straight to your class pages

💡 If more than 10 providers are eligible for a Category page, Happity Members are prioritised. Learn more about Membership.

Here are some example pages:

These pages rank highly on Google and receive over 30,000 clicks a month — so adding categories to your listings is one of the best ways to get your classes seen by more families.

Adding categories to your classes

When you create a new class activity, you’ll be asked to choose up to two categories as part of the setup process.

If you need to edit categories for an existing activity, follow the steps below.

How to edit categories on an existing activity

  1. Click the pencil icon next to the activity you want to edit.

  2. Scroll down to the Categories section at the bottom.

  3. Choose one of the suggested categories, or click the link to browse all available categories.

  4. You can add up to two categories that best describe your class.

  5. Click Save when you’re done.

💡 If the category you need isn’t listed, select Other and type your suggestion. This will be fed back to our product team for review.
